Not wearing helmets a major cause of accidents
KUALA LUMPUR: Motorcyclists made up more than half the road fatalities in the country last year.
Statistics provided by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) showed that 4,067 motorcyclists died last year. This represents about 60 per cent of the 6,745 road fatalities.
In 2008, 3,898 motorcyclists were killed out of a total of 6,527 fatalities.
